A gift for a gift. Gebo in a different light

When you hear the word gift, what does that mean to you?

Often an image may come to mind if a holiday or birthday. Or perhaps you think about an ability, talent, or skill someone has. Gifts can be non-monetary as well.

I wanted to speak about something they really made an impact on me. The rune Gebo, often associated with Gift has been used as an oracle and way of communicating a value for many many centuries.

But it can have a deeper implication. With the level of trauma, crisis, and fear in the world right now, generationally, the impact has devastated the values of empathy, compassion, and trust. These are things that cannot be bought, and most certainly these don’t come easy to everyone.

The gift of trust is one of the more sacred and meaningful gifts that a person can give to you. Often given too freely or too quickly. You may often hear someone say “I don’t trust anyone anymore”. And that reflects deeply in their behaviors and attitude. But should we blame people for that?

Through patience, understanding, and time - also truly understanding yourself, you can become gift of trust to others. Building this trust requires a level of compassion and empathy. But also a relinquishment of an over active ego. Finding a balance between the 3. The balance comes with healthy boundaries and communication.

In practicing these things I have seen a pattern of beautiful relaptionships cultivated in my own life.

What goal can you set today to work towards gaining people’s trust?
